The best food for a cat with diabetes and urinary issues will always be a canned food diet. For diabetics, we try to keep their carbohydrates low. This is only possible with a canned food. I am attaching a link below to a list of canned foods which lists the carbohydrates (which are often not on the label). In general, I try to keep my diabetic patients in the 10-15% carbohydrate range if possible. http://binkyspage.tripod.com/CanFoodNew.html Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Actually, there are a few commercial canned cat foods that have less carbs than typical diet foods and better diet parameters> One such food is Fancy Feast, all flavors EXCEPT the tuna flavors. So if your cat likes canned food this is a great choice. I had one diabetic tom on this for 12 (!) years and he went into remission several times until he finally died at the age of 26. I have another tom right now who also is well regulated on this food with insulin. So Fancy Feast canned food without tuna is a good alternative.
