Yes, it is no problem to sedate a dog for an exam twice within two weeks. There are several possibilities why a pet cannot chew properly: 1) dental problems, abscesses and ulcers in the mouth, gingivitis, oral melanoma and other tumors 2) myositis (inflammation of the muscles that assist chewing 3) paralysis or neuritis of the fascial and /or trigeminal nerves, 4) tumors in the muscle 5) infectious disease such as an infection by clostridium tetani.
