Why is my cat's skin bumpy, irritated, and losing fur after fleas?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered

My cat was recently infested with fleas & lost a patch of fur from his back. Although we have treated & gotten rid of most of the fleas the area where the patch of fur is missing looks bumpy & irritated.

It is not uncommon for cats to be allergic to flea bites and these cases often require steroid spray, tablets or injectable medications to conttrol such flare ups. Rigorous flea prevention and use of insecticidal household flea spray is important to break the lifecycle
