My Indian Star Tortoise is sick: mouth opening, snout out. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My Indian Star Tortoise was not well since 3 days. We showed her to a local vet who said she had a fungal infection in her respiratory track peobably due to subsequent temperature change(42°C outside and 30-35° inside) The condition seems to have worsened and she has been opening and closing her mouth frequently (new symptom) along with the snout coming out from her nose. She is in her 20s and has had a few health issues before but had recovered.

It definitely looks like she has an upper respiratory infection. She needs to be put on the appropriate medication by a veterinarian ASAP. Usually an antibiotic (I like Baytril for reptiles) and possibly an antifungal as well. Take her to see a vet ASAP.
