Pet's info: Dog | Pekingese | Male | 16 lbs
My 9 year old pekingese has recently started having muscle spasms. He winches in pain and I need to know what can I give him to help with the pain. What kind of pain medication for dogs could help the muscle spasms?

I'm sorry to hear about Dakota! The answer really depends on why and where the pain is. If it is arthritis related, you'll want to talk to your doctor about safe non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. If it is back pain or nerve pain, a different type of medication is indicated. There is nothing over the counter that is considered safe in dogs. Aspirin can often be safely used but NEVER for longer than 5 days due to it's high risk of GI ulcers. https://www.petcoach.co/canigive/dog/aspirin Long story short, see your vet to help determine why there is pain and where it is coming from. Then your vet can help you pick a medication (or alternative therapy) that may be most useful. Best of luck to you and Dakota!
