What pain medication can help my senior dog's muscle spasms?

My 9 year old pekingese has recently started having muscle spasms. He winches in pain and I need to know what can I give him to help with the pain. What kind of pain medication for dogs could help the muscle spasms? Pet's info: Dog | Pekingese | Male | 16 lbs

If it is arthritis related, you'll want to talk to your doctor about safe non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication. If it is back pain or nerve pain, a different type of medication is indicated. There is nothing over the counter that is considered safe in dogs.
