My dog's paws healed from hot asphalt. How can I prevent future burns?

My 8# Chiguagua mix probably walked on hot asphalt, had his paws deep pink, almost red, and was liking them for a few days; now they look 'normal' and I wonder if there's anything I could do to help. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed

If they are healed now I recommend getting booties at the local pet store and put them on Coco when you walk him on the hot asphalt. If they are still red I recommend a veterinarian.
