Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 15 lbs
I switched my dog from homemade food to commercial food. He was on home diet because he has senstive stomach. His eating solid gold green cow and little boss turkey. Just started this yesterday. I tried to mix the food with homemade food. He just ate commercial. How to make transation if he just wants the new food. When he woke up he threw up. Should i continue feeding him solid gold or what should i do. Thanks

If Sky has a sensitive stomach, then you will want to transition his diet over a period of at least 5-7 days. In order to do this, you have a few options. The green cow is a tripe formulation that is very rich, so I might wait on adding that to his diet. The turkey should be more gentle, so I would mix 75% of his homemade diet with 25% of the turkey for a couple of days to make sure that his stomach is tolerating the switch. Make sure to add some water and mix it well so he cannot just pick out the turkey. If he does well with that, then you can transition to 50:50 for a couple of days, then 75% turkey and 25% homemade before transitioning completely to the turkey. When adding the green cow, I might do a transition even more slowly and only change 10% of the food at a time. If Sky continues to vomit or does not seem to feel well, then I would certainly consult your veterinarian for a recommendation. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and answered your question.
