Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered
Hello, I'm a volunteer in the Philippines who feeds the cats in our office compound from time to time. Earlier today, I accidentally wiped my nose using my shirt with my bare hands while I was feeding the cats today. All of the cats have been vaccinated with anti-rabies within the last 3 years. I recently finished the 5 shot series of anti-rabies vaccine (my last shot was May 16, 2018) Can I get rabies from this? Do I need to get booster shots? Thank you.

Rabies transmission requires a bite wound to enter the body, so what you are describing would not be a recognized method for infection with the virus, but if you are receiving Rabies vaccinations, I would certainly discuss this with your doctor to discuss ways to decrease the possibility of transmission of the virus and when you should consider getting a booster shot. I hope that was helpful and answered your question. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
