Why is my dog so attached and misbehaving? Does he need attention?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 months and 26 days old | 40 lbs

I'm a bit confused by my dogs actions. I'm training my dog to be crate trained but he's so attached to me. The only thing that calms him down is when I pet him. Is he trying to tell me he needs more attention from me or is it that he is just too attached to me. He has also been misbehaving in the last few days. I've been cleaning alot so I haven't had as much time as usual to give to him.

It sounds as if Oreo Is very attached to you. This can be normal as long as it doesn’t interfere with your day today activities. I think crate training him is a great idea. It is probably best to crate him only when you are not home because if you are home and he is in the crate it will probably cause him a lot of distress. It would also be helpful for him to exercise a lot every day. This will help drain some of his nervous energy and help him be more calm when you’re not around. It sounds as if you are doing everything right at this time. Just keep working with him and exercising him regularly and you guys will do great!
