Bulldog bald spot getting red with white strings, no itch or pain.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Male | neutered | 6 years and 11 months old | 55 lbs

My English bulldog got a bold spot that has grown to 3x4 inches. It does not bother him-no itching, or pain. I starred putting vet recommended dog skin treatment and the area is getting red. Taking close up pictures there seems to be some white matter around the red areas or single strings. Started putting anti fungal cream and changed meal from fish to red meat,, no grains. Please help me,I cannot afford his normal vet. Lost my job.

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The pictures are a little hard to make out clearly and I really can't say for certain what the cause of Leo's skin condition is without examining Leo first. My best advice is Leo see his veterinarian to get some diagnostics done on his skin so the most appropriate treatment can be prescribed. If there is an infection present, Leo may need antibiotics. In the mean time, you can try Zymox spray or cream which can be purchased online or through your local PetStore. If Leo's skin does not improve or becomes worse, please see your local veterinarian. I hope this helps and thanks again for posting!
