Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 13 years and 9 months old | 14 lbs
I have a neutered male senior cat. 13 yrs old but still playful! 5 months ago my sweet senior female was ill and passed away. I'm going to adopt a new cat and was told the best match for my boy would be a kitten/younger female. I went to a shelter and saw a very sweet one year old spayed female. Would this be a good match?

Yes, I think this would be the cat that I would choose. A one year old is not as crazy and playful as a younger kitten and you should already be able to get a good idea of her personality. It is good to choose a laid back and non-threatening cat. No matter who you choose, your male cat will not line it at first. There is always an adjustment period for cats to accept another cat. Be patient and hopefully within a couple of weeks, they will be friends. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
