My beagle puppy licked a dead seal on the beach. Does she need a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Beagle | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 28 days old | 70 lbs

Our dog may have licked a hole in a seal on a beach she is a 6 month old beagle does she need to see a vet? Any help appreciated.

Dead marine mammals carry very nasty bugs, so I would not let my dog lick them. You do not need to take her to a vet unless she starts to vomit,, has diarrhea or develops a fever. Best take her temperature with a rectal thermometer tomorrow. Seals can get ill with canine distemper, so I hope your puppy has been vaccinated.
