Why does my Dachshund have a sudden white hair patch near his eye?

my dachsound has a patch of white hair under his left eye that has appearred rather quickly. It is very white. Is something going on with him? Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | neutered | 4 years and 10 months old | 15 lbs

I am sorry to hear about Michief. It is possible he could have vitiligo, which causes a loss of pigmentation of the skin/fur in dogs. Sometimes this can appear as a small patch, and sometimes can be over larger areas. Dachshunds are a breed we see with this condition. It can sometimes result from a stressful event, and occasionally due to an autoimmune condition. I would recommend bringing him in for his vet to examine him to determine if this is what is happening with Michief. Best of luck to you!
