What caused my fish to die with a bloated stomach and upside down?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Fish | Unknown - Fish | Female | unspayed

Sofro died today and her stomach was bloated. We had her for almost three years. She was inactive and slept a lot and she ate slowly. Is she old? And could it be swim bladder when she died? She was upside down when she died.

I am sorry to hear about it. Altered buoyancy is usually due to a swim bladder infection/inflammation. Possible abdominal tumors can often cause these problems as well.
