My old dog's paw was stung by a bee. How do I treat the pain?

Hi my dog got stung by a bee on the paw he is very old and is in alot of pain What should we do ?

Look for the stinger and remove it, if you can, Cool his paw with ice in a cloth (no ice directly on the foot). You can also soak the foot in epsom salt solution for about 10 minutes. The pain should go away by tonight,

    Remove the stinger if you can see it. Apply a cold compress to the paw for 10-15 minutes. Restrict activity to just leash walks to eliminate. See your veterinarian if the swelling or lameness persists. Do not give any medications to Amber without the advice of your veterinarian.

My 12 lb yorkie poo got stung by a bee on the bottom of her paw pad. She is lifting it and will not out weight on it. Just happened. I read to make a paste of baking soda and water to put on it. What else should I do for this?
Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. I would suggest applying a cold compress on the paw. You should take a few ice cubes, wrap it up in a thin towel and apply on the paw for 10-15 minutes. The swelling should go down within 30-45 minutes and Noelle should be back to normal in 2-3 hrs time

My maltipoo got stung on top of his right back foot by a yellow jacket about a hour ago he's about 15lbs but is breathing fine but is crying out in alot of pain what orc can I give him
There's really nothing that safe to give him over the counter for pain. Apply a cool compress to the area but the pain will likely subside within a few hours. Monitor him for any swelling of the face or trouble breathing. Also make sure the stinger is out. I hope Hugo feels better quickly!

My dog just stepped on a bee, and I took out the sting from his paw. Dogs normally have allergies or it is nothing to worry about
Ouch, poor Bongo! You did the right thing by taking out the stinger. Put a cold compress on it for five minutes at a time to help with the pain and swelling. Keep an eye on him. If his paw starts swelling despite the cold compress, he gets hives, he is in pain, or you see signs of anaphylactic shock, rush him into an ER vet immediately. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

My dog got stung by bee on paw about 30 minutes ago, no sign of swelling and no symptoms. She was limping for a little while and then stopped. Should I worry?
I would just monitor the paw for now. You can apply an ice pack for 5-10 minutes 2-3 times per day to help with the discomfort or reduce any swelling that may occur. If Diva begins to have any other symptoms such as breathing difficulties, swelling of the face, etc. I would recommend getting her examined by a veterinarian for further treatment. Is there a way we can provide relief to a dog whose been bitten by a bee or wasp between its paw pads?
Poor Zala! You could bath her paw with cold (not icy!) water or apply cold packs on the affected paw but if it gets really swollen I would have her checked by your veterinarian as she might need and anti-inflammatory injection. In addition, avoid any licking. Please post again on the forum or request a consultation if you would like to discuss it any further.

my puppy shih tzu got attack by a bee, and the plet clinics are closed. What should I do?
You can cool the area where the sting is with some ice wrapped in a cloth. This will take the pain and reduce the swelling. By tomorrow the area should look normal again. If your puppy starts to vomit, gets breathing problems or appears ill, you will need to take it to a pet ER for treatment.

Poor Prco. Yellow jacket stings can be very painful! First check the area to make sure there is no sign of a stinger and remove it if it is seen. Make sure to keep her off of the foot. You can apply a cool, not cold, compress to her foot, this will help to relieve some of the pain and reduce some of the swelling. Keep her from licking the foot as this will only make it worse. Generally this will subside within a few hours. If she seems excessively painful or exhibit signs of an anaphylactic reaction, have her examined by her veterinarian quickly. Best of luck.

My morkie just got stung by a bee. I removed the stinger and he is still licking where he was stung and won’t walk in that leg. He hasn’t thrown up and it isn’t swollen. Is there anything we can do to help him?
If there is no swelling and if your dog does not experience any vomiting or trouble breathing, the discomfort should go away soon by itself. If Charlie keeps licking the area you can give him 1/2 a children's Benadryl which should take the itch.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. I’m sorry to hear about Sugar. This could be a number of things including snake bite, bee sting, broken toe/foot, or abscess. I’d recommend seeing your vet as soon as possible for a better diagnosis and the proper treatment. Tonight is ideal. If the swelling continues up the leg or Sugar becomes lethargic, has tremors, or any other worrisome signs, please see an emergency vet immediately. Otherwise, I recommend the following until you can get in tomorrow. Ice- apply an ice pack or frozen veggie bag wrappped in a paper towel or thin cloth. Apply for 5-10 mins every 2-4 hours. This does wonders for both pain and swelling. Epsom salt soak- mix 4 tbsp Epsom salts in 1 cup warm water. Soak his paw in this tonight. This helps with pain, swelling, and if there is something stuck (stinger, thorn, etc). I absolutely do NOT recommend any human pain medications as they are neither safe, nor very effective in animals. They may also interfere with the pain
