My pitbull is scared to go outside. What can I do to help her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 4 months old | 52 lbs

We have had our pocket pitbull for a year. She was given to us by my coworker. She is amazing! The only thing I worry about is she is petrified to go outside! Her previous owner said she was like that with her as well, but I figured she would get bigger and love it. When she is finally outside, she is happy but still timid. Any ideas on what we can do? Thanks!

Take her out as much as possible for fun things, playing ball, running swimming, etc. Make going out an event by showing her the leash and telling her that you will go out to play with her. Get her excited, This should get her to associate going out with fun, rather than with fear. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
