My elderly cat is stressed. Can she take my human adrenal supplement?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 5 lbs

I have been taking an adrenal supplement made from bovine adrenal and cortex. Can I give this to my elderly cat. She has been under a large amount of stress due to the addition of a dog to our family and previously was stressed by the addition of 2 cats. She is now afraid of them all!!

Please do not give her that supplement as there is no research on how it will affect her. You should get a few Feliway dispensers and distribute them all over the house, This emits a calming and "happy" pheromone which takes a lot of stress. You will need to do this for about three months, and by then the stress should be gone and she should be able to deal with all the companion animals in your household.
