Hi we adopted a 4..now 5 month old Male Shar Pei/Shepherd Mix about 3 weeks ago. He was treated for Kennel Cough and finished his meds this past Monday Morning. However, I’m noticing some gagging, congested sounds from throat and nose intermittently. Could this be related or something completely different? He has always sounded like he has a very different type of airway, almost barchycephalic like.

Hello, sorry to hear about Behr. It does indeed sound like this could be different and I would be concerned that he could have pneumonia or bronchitis. Sharpei dogs do not typically get brachycephalic airway disease but may still develop some form of it. Behr should have chest x-rays to ensure he does not have pneumonia or bronchitis before pursuing something such as a sedated oral exam. Hope this helps and best of luck.
