My dog ate ibuprofen. He seems okay, but should I be concerned?

My 2 yr old English bulldog we think ate 1200mg of ibuprofen yesterday seems completely fine should I be worried

Hi there. We can see serious GI side effects, including stomach ulcers and internal bleeding, at ibuprofen doses over 50 mg/kg. If Dubs is 35 pounds and may have ingested 1200 mg of ibuprofen, this would be about 75 mg/kg - so yes, he would be at risk of developing some serious problems. I would recommend taking him to the vet today for an exam. The veterinarian may recommend checking some lab work to see if there is any evidence of bleeding in his stomach, and will probably prescribe medication to help protect his stomach lining for the next few days until the ibuprofen is out of his system.
