Puppy won't eat/drink after tapeworm meds. How to prevent dehydration?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 3 lbs

My puppy has tapeworms, I just gave her an oral medication for it. She won't eat or drink at all this morning. Is there any suggestion to try to get her to eat or drink to prevent her from getting dehydrated? I am worried about her.

Hello, sorry to hear about Avaline. You can entice your puppy with baby food to see if this will get her to eat some. This medication may have caused her to feel a little nauseous and this she does not want o eat. However, if she was given this too early, or if she was given the wrong dose of the medication, then she may need to be seen by her veterinarian to obtain medications for this. Hope this helps and best of luck.
