My old dog has chronic nasal discharge. Is it a tumor or fungus?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | 14 years and 11 months old

My 15 year old dog boy has nasal discharge for weeks(one nostril). Antibiotics didnt sweep it away. It has no blood but mucous. He sneezes but not often. He eats well. His eye is watery on the leaking nostril side.CT scan done and that side seems full. Nose swap examined.Fungus and gram negative enteroccus seen.Fungus treatment and bacteria treatment started. One expert says it's a tumor and have to be removed.Others say it might not be. I'm confused. Is it tumor or not? What is that bacteria?

Left nasal cavity seems full of discharge and bone seems affected as well (so whatever is inside is causing bone erosion as well). It is not possible to determine what it is specifically from the CT images and a further investigation is unfortunately needed. Was rhinoscopy performed? was a biopsy taken? Otherwise aggressive treatment for fungal infection is required (not only oral treatment but often ''flush'' of the nasal cavity is necessary to have substantial results.
