My dog vomited after a dental chew. Is panting and shaking normal?

Nicco ate a Healthy Hide dental twist I ordered off of Amazon and vomited about half an hour later. He is now panting and shaking. Do I need to take him to see a vet?

I think he may be panting ans shaking from the act of vomiting. If you remember, vomiting is not a good feeling, so when it happened, your dog may have gotten upset. He may be a bit sensitive to the ingredients of the dental twist. I am not a fan of rawhide, as it tends to swell up in the stomach, and can cause an obstruction at the exit of the stomach or in the small intestine, especially if the rawhide was swallowed whole instead of being chewed. So it is likely that he did not chew it very well, and it expanded in the stomach which then reacted by making your dog regurgitate it. The time frame of about half an hour fits s well as this is about how long it takes to moisten and swell the raw hide. I think he will be ok, and there is no need yet to take him to the vet. If he vomits more often or states getting diarrhea or appears lethargic after a while (in a few hours) you should take him to the vet. However at this time I would let him settle down and rest and calm down. Do not give him another twist, though.
