Why did my dog die from a cold/virus even after vet treatment?

since my dog already died i wanna clear up this heavy feeling in my heart . I wanna ask a question how come that my dog still died even tho we did what the veterinarian recommended . My dogs sickness came out of no where she had a cold then on the next days she became really hot like she has a fever . Until she become really thick then her breathing is really heavy the vet said she has a cold and it might also a virus but the virus can fade if we treat her with a proper care . Thank you for submitting your question. I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Megan. Based on her description I wonder if she developed pneumonia secondary to her initial cold. It is rare, but any upper respiratory tract infection can spread to the chest and become pneumonia. This is usually accompanied by a high fever and difficulty breathing. It can be very difficult to treat. I am sorry that following the veterinarian's recommendations did not help her. This sometimes happens and is heartbreaking to doctors as well. Again, I am sorry for your loss.
