My 14yr old pug is peeing out blood and is unable to walk with his back legs.. his vet is unable to diagnose the problem.. they gave him predisone thinking it was arthritis... but now im starting to think its a uti because he just now starting bleeding in his urine... can you help? Thanks

IF the blood in the urine started after he was put on steroids then a UTI is the most likely cause (steroids reduces the immune system increasing the risk of infections in general.), your vet should start him on a course of antibiotics ASAP. your vet should also check Ceaser's prostate, as a prostate disease can also be the cause of bleeding from the penis.

There are many possible reasons for blood or pigment in the urine and referral to a specilialist may be necessary if no obvious cause has shown up so far. Liver and muscle disease can cause discolouration of the urine, kidney, prostate and bladder disease or penile trauma can cause bleeding into the urinary tract. I would recommend submitting a urine sample to a specialist laboratory and also a full blood panel to identify any medical factors also
