My horse is sad after losing her friend. How can I help her?

Our. 15year old thoroughbred mare lost her best friend 3weeks ago. To lammi they had been together 12 years..she had been on box rest next door too him for 12 weeks. She saw him pts. She didn't have lammi. But he called her all the time.. now he has gone we are turning her out alone. She isn't calling just seems very low.she is retired due to arthritis she is eating well. I'm not really sure how she's coping.. she is in at night out during day. More horses on farm but not near here..

That is very sad. Horses are social animals and bond with each other, and other animals. I would move her to be with another animal or move another horse to be close with her. A pony or mini or donkey or calf or goat will work too. She needs someone she can spend time with and look after. That will give her a new lease on life and perk her up.
