Can my 6-month-old puppy get the 7 in 1 vaccine as his first shot?

Dusty is 6 months old and has not had any shots. Can I get the 7 in 1 shot for him.

Yes you can get that for Dusty, and he will need a booster four weeks after the first vaccine in order to be fully vaccinated. In addition, he will need a rabies vaccines as it's required by law in Indiana where you live for all dogs over the age of three months. He will need a booster four weeks after the first rabies vaccine to be fully vaccinated against that as well. I would make an appointment with your vet on Monday (only a vet can legally give a rabies vaccine). I hope this helps, Dusty is adorable!

Congrats on your new dog!! Yes, you can get multiple shots. I would get Boomer a combination shot that protects agains DHPP (distemper, adenovirus [hepatitis], parainfluenza, and parvovirus). In one week, he can get his rabies vaccine, as it's recommended to give him that for the first time at 12 weeks. Boomer will need a booster of DHPP four weeks after the first injection (15 weeks old), and a third booster for DHPP another four weeks after the second injection (19 weeks old). At this last set of injections, he will need another booster of rabies. After this, he will not need any more vaccines until a year after this last series of vaccines.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Yes, it is safe to give the full dose of the 5 in 1 vaccine. It is not recommended to give less or more of the vaccine, it is not based on the animals size. He should get the 5 in 1 every 3-4 weeks until he has had 3 of them. The 3rd is good for 1 year. He will need to see a Vet for his Rabies vaccine. Since he is small I would give that separately. At what age the Rabies should be given depends on your State's laws. In PA it is around 12-16 weeks. I wish you the best!

Hi and thanks for your question. If at 5 months, this will be the first time he will be receiving vaccines, then I would recommend he receive his rabies vaccine and distemper-hepatitis-parvovirus vaccine as well as bordetella if he will be around other dogs or kenneled. He will need a booster of the distemper and bordetella in 3-4 weeks. At your first appointment with Sash's vet, you and the veterinarian can decide what other vaccines are recommended based on Sash's risk level and health status. I hope this helps!

Hi there. If your pups are six months old and have never had vaccines, they will need a DAPP vaccine (for distemper, adenovirus, parvovirus, and parainfluenza) now, and a booster in 3-4 weeks. They will also need a rabies vaccine. Other vaccinations such as Lyme disease, leptospirosis, or Bordetella (kennel cough) may also be needed depending on what is common in your area and your dog's risk of exposure - your veterinarian should be able to talk more with you about this to decide if any additional vaccines are needed.

I have 5 week old puppies and am wondering when I should get their first shots and what they would include. They are German shepherds.
Around 6-8 weeks of age, they should get their first Distemper Parvovirus Adenovirus 1 and 2 (Hepatitis) Parainfluenza vaccine and Bordatella Kennel cough vaccine. They will need a Distemper booster every 3 weeks with the last one being given when they are at least 14 weeks old. The Rabies vaccine is generally given at 14 weeks of age but can be given as early as 12 weeks. Other vaccines that your vet may recommend include lepto, lyme and influenza, all of which require boosters 3 weeks after the initial dose. In addition to vaccines the puppies should be dewormed and checked for intestinal parasites via a fecal exam. Congrats and good luck!

The distemper/parvo combination (5 in 1) is given every 3 weeks until they are older than 16 weeks of age. Depending on your area, a lepto or lyme vaccine may be needed and those are started at 8 or 10 weeks. A rabies vaccine is required by law and given at 12-16 weeks of age.

As a puppy, they should receive a distemper vaccination once every 3-4 weeks from the age of 6-8 weeks until they are 4 months of age, then repeated annually. At four months they are old enough to get their rabies vaccine, which should be repeated in one year and then, depending on your local statutes, may be boostered once every 1-3 years. The distemper/parvo combo vaccine should be boostered annually as well as the bordetella vaccine if s/he is boarded or goes to the dog park or has other contact with outside dogs on a regular basis. As an older puppy, the distemper/parvo vaccination should be given, then repeated in 3-4 weeks, then boostered annually. The rabies can be given at any time and is boostered every 1-3 years, depending on local laws.

The 9 in 1 vaccine (also referred to as DAPP, or distemper- adenovirus- parvovirus- parainfluenza vaccine, sometimes containing leptospirosis as well) is typically given every 3-4 weeks from 6 weeks of age until 16 weeks of age. Muffin should receive this same or equivalent 9 in 1 vaccine at 9-10 weeks as well. Depending upon her lifestyle and your location, you can also discuss the bordetella (kennel cough), canine influenza, leptospirosis, and Lyme disease vaccines with your vet to determine if these should be started. Rabies vaccines are typically given around 12-16 weeks of age, but this age will vary based upon state laws. I hope this helps and that all goes well for Muffin!

Hi there! Since Mocha is six weeks old, he should go ahead and start his vaccinations now. He will need a DAPP vaccine (for distemper, adenovirus, parvo, and parainfluenza) now - this vaccine will also need to be boostered every 3 weeks until he is 16 weeks or older. He will also need a rabies vaccine anytime after 12 weeks of age. Depending on his lifestyle and what diseases are prevalent in your area, he may also need to be vaccinated against Bordetelle (kennel cough), leptospirosis, and/or Lyme disease. Your veterinarian can discuss the risks of these illnesses in your area and help you make this decision. And yes, he should also be dewormed. You can use a broad-spectrum dewormer like Strongid or Panacur from the pet store, or get a prescription dewormer from your vet's office if you prefer.

Hello my doberman puppy is 40 days old so what all vaccine i should give and at what age and anti rabies when should i be giving her?
Great question! At 40 days of age, Daisy is just over 5.5 weeks old, so she is not old enough for her first vaccines. Puppies should be at least 6-8 weeks of age, and I would wait at least another 4 days before giving her the first vaccine. She will need a DHPPi, which protects again distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza. She will need three series of the DHPPi vaccines each given four weeks apart. The schedule would be: 1st shot at 6 weeks of age, 2nd shot at 10 weeks of age, and final shot at 14 weeks of age. In terms of rabies, that should not be given until she is 12 weeks old, and she will need two of the rabies vaccine given four weeks apart. She should therefore get the first rabies vaccine at 12 weeks of age and the second at 16 weeks of age. She will need a booster of both DHPPi and rabies at a year old. The vet can discuss the schedule of boosters after that with you. I hope this helps!
