Why is my dog's pee red after eating beets? Should I worry?

My dog gets red color urine after eating beetroot. Is it fine?

This can be normal. The color is caused by the excretion of betacyanin that is in the beets, but it should not cause medical problems. The red color of the urine should resolve in 12-24 hours after ingestion of the beetroot, but if it does not, then that isn't normal and something else could be causing the color of Scooby's urine such as a UTI or bladder stones. In that case, he would need to see a vet. Good luck, I hope this helps!

    Beets can change the color of urine so this is likely the source of the color change. To be certain I would stop feeding beets and observe for a few days. If the color doesn't resolve or she has increased urination or pain on urinating a vet visit is needed.
