My dog is on antibiotics and constipated. How long can she go without a BM?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 years and 2 months old | 9 lbs

My chihuahua is on antibiotics for an intestinal problem and has not had a bm since monday night. I talked to her vet friday he said it will take a bit for her to get back regular, that she should go in a day or two. He said no cause for concern but is she getting backed up? She seems fine otherwise. How long can she go with no bm?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If she is not eating well, she could go several days without defecating. However, if she is eating well, it should not be more than 2-3 days. She may be constipated. You could consider adding about 1 teaspoon of canned pumpkin to her meals which will likely help her go to the bathroom. Good luck and have a great day!
