Is Bach Rescue Remedy with glycerine safe for my cat after dental surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 9 years and 2 months old | 9 lbs

Hi there ! My kitty has a dental surgery next week and I got Bach rescue remedy to give her. It says it's 80% glycerine is that okay for cats ? Could glycerine cause GI upset ? Also is there anything I can give her to help her recover post anesthesia ? Thank you !

Usually you would not need Bach remedy or any other herb to help your kitty recover from dental surgery. Your vet will give her antibiotics and pain medication and she should be ok. i would not give her anything by mouth after a dental surgery as there may be open wounds and you could cause an infection or contaminate the mouth. It is safer to just not manipulate her mouth. Your kitty will feel so much better after having her teeth cleaned and damaged teeth removed. Give her lots of TLC if she wants it, and all will be well. Glycerine acts as a stool softener in cats and can cause diarrhea.
