My cat has a pink, wet, swollen spot. Is it a wound or infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | unspayed | 1 year old | 4 lbs

Kiarra is okay but since a few days, she has this swelling type of thing, it's pinkish, and it gets wet even if I keep viping it. She doesn't let me touch it for long if I try to investigate. What can it be ? There are no other problems

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. What you are describing could be a wound, abscess or hot spot. It is difficult to say from the photos. I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Kiarra so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. She may need to be put on a course of an oral antibiotic and pain medication for treatment. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.
