Is Bravecto effective if applied to cat's fur instead of skin?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 5 years and 10 months old

Hi,I put on my cats Bravecto and it went perfect on the others but on the one,the most part of the fluid went on his fur instead of his skin,I keep him from licking or cleaning it,so it will stay there, but on his hairs not on his skin, will it be effective that way, thank you?

The medication works by being absorbed in the skin, so it will not be very effective if it's only on the fur. However, it's possible that enough got on the skin to be effective. I recommend just leaving it for now and only giving another treatment if it is not effective at keeping fleas and ticks off of Tikvichko for 12 weeks. If you have to give another treatment within the 12 weeks, then I recommend using a different product such as Frontline to avoid a possible overdose of the Bravector (fluralaner). Your vet can help you with a good choice of a different product if needed. I hope that helps and all is well with Tikvichko.
