My dog's beard is dirty and smelly from wet food. How to clean?

My dog eats wet food and has a beard.She always has a dirty and smelly stained beard with rice stuck on the fur. How can i keep it clean and tidy to make her more comfortable while she is not groomed yet. Its hard to clean her beard cause she moves a lot. She does not eat dry food which is why i have to feed her wet food. Pet's info: Dog | Toy Poodle | Female | unspayed | 12 years and 4 months old | 11.05 lbs

I would take a warm damp cloth and clean the fur, then brush it out. Once you have it clean, which may take some time if she is wiggly, then apply a thin film of Vaseline on the fur below her chin. This will keep the fur down and the food will not stick to the beard. When she's groomed you may want to trim the beard short so this is not so much of a problem.
