My cat has asthma, will Omega 3 help with lung inflammation?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 11 months old

Is Omega 3 likely to help a cat who probably has asthma? Will an Omega 3 supplement reduce lung inflammation or be useful in any way? Are cod liver oil capsules (like Johnson's) a good source of omega 3? Thanks.

Omega fatty acids are naturally antiinflammatory and may well help but I would not recommend human dose capsules. Try to source a small animal preparation such as viacutan or a liquid oil supplement for cats. Many human preparations are supplemented with vit d which is at excessive levels for cats and dogs
