Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 11 months and 7 days old | 7 lbs
Hi! I have a female cat (unspayed, 11 months) My cat seems to be spraying/peeing on my bed. She’s only doing it while in heat, which led me to believe it was spraying. However, she is squatting while doing the marking. I have an appointment to get her spayed in the next few months. I’ve looked online and mostly says cats only spray upwards, and not in a squat. Is it possible my cats marking is spraying? Or more likely a behavior issue. It only happens during heat, and only the past month. Thanks

Nova is beautiful! Thanks for including a picture. Spraying can be either vertical or horizontal (especially in a female cat). Since the behavior is only occurring during her heat cycle that certainly suggests that Nova is spraying. However, I would recommend getting her spayed ASAP because sometimes such behavior will continue after spaying if it continues for a prolonged period of time. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and answered your question. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
