This may be a bacterial infection which needs to be treated ASAP as it can spread very fast. Usually this happens when a dog has fleas or possibly an allergy and itches. When the dog scratches, it damages the skin and then bacteria can attack the skin. Please take Coco to a vet tomorrow for a clip, clean and disinfect of the affected areas. Your vet will prescribe an antibiotic for skin infections and possibly an ointment. If you have not been practicing flea prevention, then you should seriously consider it. Your vet can advise you on which flea medication is best for your dog at this time.
