Can my dog get sick from eating dry dog food past its use by date?

what would be the chances my dog could get sick/and or die from a dry dog food that has a september 2015 use by date? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 8 months old | 65 lbs

If it's a use by date you should definitely not use it as the ingredients could have gone off. If it is a best before date it will be safe to eat but it may not taste as good and some vitamins and minerals may have leached out.
