My 11-year-old Shih Tzu gags when resting, but is otherwise healthy?

my 11 yr old shih Tzu has been having gagging problems for 3 weeks, eats,drinks, with no problem, still plays no shortness of breath seems to gag mostly when resting. Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 10 years and 3 months old | 28 lbs

I eould take Smokie to the vet to have this checked out. It may be absoloutely nothing but I thonk it would be best to have a vet carefully check him in case he has infection or inflammation in his throat or chest. Also the vet can have a look in his mouth to make sure there are no growths or causes of discomfort.
