Hi my indian ringneck is about 10 months old i don't know his gender well i guess he is a male. Well he can eat treat from my hand but only if my hand is little away from him and he is also very shy at eating sometimes scream slowly. Well when i put anything on my hand he will try to bite my finger like he want to check it is safe or not. I just wanna know is it safe to let him bite or could you tell me anything else to gain his trust. Thanks

I think what you are doing at this time is great. The more you work with him like this the more he will begin to trust you. If he is hurting you when biting you then I would stop the behavior. However, if it is just a small nip to see how you react then I think it’s ok to let the behavior continue. Whenever you a handling him use his favorite treats/snacks so he will learn that by interacting with you he gets a positive reward. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck!
