Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | neutered | 10 years and 4 months old | 12.5 lbs
My dog has a sebaceous adenoma on his neck, right below the base of his skull. Size was 4x4mm in 2015 and is now 8x8mm according to the vet. In the last month he started itching the area a lot more frequently and there is oozing. It seems like he is bothered when I trim his hair. Since the adenoma is growing and making him itchy, would this be a sign that I should consider having it removed? He will be undergoing surgery soon so I considered having it removed at the same time.

I'm sorry that Chip's mass is starting to bother him. I typically recommend removing these masses for the reasons you listed above (growing and bothering the patient). If he will already be under anesthesia for another surgery, this can be a convenient time to have it done. Discuss it with your veteriarian, but I think it will make Chip more comfortable and save him from going under anesthesia a second time. Good luck!
