Is it normal for my Bombay cat's hind legs to be thin after weight gain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 5 lbs

I have a 1 year old bombay cat. He is fully grown. Earlier he was very thin but has started putting on weight recently. But his hind legs are still very thin even though he has gained mass throughout his body. Is it something to worry ?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Bombay cats are very lean cats. The fact he is putting on weight makes me less worried. The muscle mass may take time to develop. If you notice that the weight he is gaining is more concentrated to his belly then I would have your Vet examine him. You can also post a picture and we'd be happy to look. I hope this helps and I wish you and Jhumru the best!
