Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pug | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 5 months old | 15 lbs

my pug who was mated 3 weeks ago has started scratching through the night. She has large sift lumps on her side and back. I've dabbed with vinegar. Is it safe to give antihistamines. She sleeps in my bed

No - unfortunately, antihistamines are not safe to be used during pregnancy. You can try bathing her in an aloe and oatmeal dog shampoo to see if this helps a bit, as this shouldn't harm her or the puppies. If this doesn't help, I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam - he/she can discuss prescription medication options that can be used to help with itching or other skin problems while she is pregnant.
