My dog has a new lump on her leg and is limping. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Female | spayed | 9 years and 9 months old | 44 lbs

I just noticed a large (size of an avocado pit) semi soft mass on my dogs right hind leg. She just started limping today favoring the left leg and the lump just appeared today. She recently had two non cancerous slow growing lumps removed from her chest and right front leg. What should I do?

Considering the mass just appeared and she's also lame, I would suspect that it's a fluid swelling due to an injury. It would be best to have her seen by a vet sometime in the next day or two in order to diagnose the specific condition and provide the necessary treatment. For now, you can ice the affected are 2-3 times a day until you are able to see the vet. I hope that helps and Coco gets better soon.
