My dog keeps licking her butt and isn’t able to be distracted. The area seems very red.

It is possible that Zoey may be developing an anal sac abscess. It is also possible that she just has perianal itchiness from allergies. However, based on the picture it appears to me more right sided than left, so I would be very suspicious about an anal sac abscess. I would highly encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. In the meantime consider using a warm water compress to the area to improve comfort. Best of luck and thank you for using Pet Coach.

Stud Muffin could have worms or he could have impacted anal sacs causing the redness around his anus and him licking at it. I would have him seen by a vet, and bring along a sample of feces for the vet to examine. The vet can diagnose if he does have worms or impacted anal sacs. If he has worms, the vet can give him a deworming treatment. Should he have impacted anal sacs, the vet can express them. I would have him seen by a vet in the next couple of days. Good luck, I hope this helps!

She is licking her anal area because something is bothering her, most probably her anal glands that need emptying. putting something locally is not a good solution as she will lick it off right away, if she has an anal gland infection she will need antibiotics. i recommend taking her to the vet ASAP in order to get it treated.
