Why is my diabetic cat's belly moving after weight loss & ultrasound?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 7.5 lbs

My cat is diabetic and lost a lot of weight, buthis belly is larger now. He had an ultrasound and had his belly shaven. A few days later I noticed things moving under his skin in that area, especially after meals. They are as thick as a pinkie and move like worms. He has received his two doses of Drontal prior to that. Could it be his intestines moving? If there was anything else, the vet should have noticed it in the ultrasound, right?

Yes, the ultrasound should have seen if there was anything abnormal in his abdomen. It may have been intestinal movement as you thought. Hopefully with treatment of his diabetes his weight will stabilize. The abdomen may just seems larger now since he lost the weight.
