I feed Louie Victor nutra pro, which is for active dogs and puppies, there is only a feeding guide food adults. Should I feed him the same amount for the same weight? Should I double it? How much calories should he be getting?

I go by how hungry your puppy is not by the recommended amount of food on the bag. Young puppies need to eat more often so I feed three times daily. I would start with the amount on the bag. If he is starving at the next meal you are not feeding enough. He should be hungry at the next meal and just finish the food. Increase the amount as needed to keep him from being too hungry. As he grows up he will stop being hungry at the mid day meal so you can stop that. I continue to feed two meals dail for the rest of his life. Once he’s full grown you may need to cut back the amount if he starts to get fat. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Louie.

To get him eating on a schedule, feed him 2-3 times daily, at the same times if possible. Prepare his food then leave it down for 20-30 minutes before picking it up whether he has eaten or not. Repeat this at the next mealtime. Do not offer any food or treats between meals. He will not starve, he will eat when he is hungry. Dogs thrive on routine and he will learn to anticipate mealtimes so he doesn't miss out. Be firm and be consistent. You can use the amounts listed on the back of the food bag and adjust if necessary. Monitor Bakster's weight as well as his body condition. If he is getting chubby or skinny, adjust the amount of food. If he is consistently emptying his bowl or leaving food, adjust the amount to minimize waste while not leaving him hungry.
