My dog ate French fries and won't stop drooling. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | 1 year and 9 months old | 80 lbs

I gave my dog some French fries for the first time and now he won’t stop salivating. He ate his food and has been drinking water but he just won’t stop salivating.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Salivation could be a sign of nausea in dogs. You may continue to monitor Coco for now to make sure that he does not develop any vomiting. If it resolves then he should be ok and there is no need for further evaluation of this. If he develops any vomiting, have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hoping the best for your boy. Good luck and have a good night!
