My cat is retching. Should the vet check for stuck grass? Is it serious?

Hi. I took my cat to see the vet earlier because after spending a few hrs out this morning, he came back and was retching like something was stuck in his throat. They took his temp and that's fine. She didn't check in his mouth though but only gave him an anti inflammatory injection and advised to come back after 2 days if no better. Shouldn't they have checked inside his mouth to see if something was there? Will a stuck blade of grass be life threatening? :(

If the odd behavior/hacking has stopped then I would not be too concerned. However, if the behavior is continuing then I would recommend taking Milo back in for a recheck, ensuring that the doctor looks into the mouth. It is pretty difficult to look inside a car’s mouth but sometimes a quick peek is all you need. And unless the grass is so large it is blocking the airway it would not be life threatening. I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any additional questions.
