My cat is retching and has a swollen windpipe. Should I see a vet?

Hi. My cat keeps retching all of a sudden like something is stuck in his throat...should I wait to see if it passes and keep an eye on him or do I take him straight to the vet? He is still eating and drinking but it is obviously irritating him.....And I am pretty sure I feel a slight swelling on the left side of his windpipe. He went out this morning at 4:30 and was absolutely fine but when he came back he suddenly had this problem.

As long as he is eating normally there is no reason to panic, this is actually common in cats, they retch violently for a minute or so and then everything comes back to normal, often the reason for that is unclear. keep an eye on him, if this continues happening several times a day take him to your vet to get it checked.
