My dog licked Neosporin off his paw after chewing. Is it harmful?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 2 months old | 30 lbs

My dog chewed his paws and took off some skin.. I put on some neosporin but he licked a bit off. I covered it after and put a cone on, but will he be okay from licking a little?

Licking off a small amount of neosporin should not harm Theo. If he continues to lick/chew his paws you may want to take him to the vet to be assessed for allergies. Licking/chewing the feet is a common sign of a dog having an environmental allergy (like to dust, grasses and pollens). I hope this helps.
