My dog mated after heat bleeding stopped. Could she be pregnant?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Weimaraner | Female | unspayed | 50 lbs

I have 2 Weimaraners. 1 male and the other is female. She is a year old and in her second heat cycle. She was bleeding 2 weeks ago but is no longer bleeding. Her female area has decreased in swelling. Yesterday, the 2 dogs “connected” and were locked together for a very brief time. I do want to breed her but not until she is 2. How likely is it that she could have gotten pregnant?

They only stand for breeding a few days each cycle. For them to actually mate then you do have a 50% chance that the pregnancy took and will be successful. There are no safe medications you can use to terminate from here besides having her spayed which will prevent all future pregnancies Your vet can do an ultrasound around day 18-20 as fetal heart beats will be evident to confirm a pregnancy for you.
